Parrish is known to be an unincorporated community situated close to the crossing point of U.S. 301 and State Road 62 in Manatee County, Florida. It is also a part of the Bradenton–Sarasota–Venice Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The community was built up and named by Crawford Parrish. A post office named Parish also followed in 1879. The spelling of the name was redressed to Parrish in 1950. Crawford was a farmer and later cultivated oranges.
Mr. Parrish hailed from Georgia, same as his wife Mary Bratcher Vanzant who was given birth to in 1841. They moved from south, after the Civil War to where is presently known as the Suwanee River. There they possessed both land and slaves. In any case, in 1867 they sold the area and moved once more to the Manatee River area.
Today, Parrish is a flourishing private community, found deliberately between Tampa towards the north and Sarasota towards the South.
