Wimauma Florida is located in Hillsborough County, Florida, United States. It is an unincorporated census-designated place having a total population of 6,373 as at the census conducted in 2010. In the year 1902, Wimauma was established by Captain C.H. Davis. It was situated on a 55-mile railroad course that was erected south all the way from Durant to Manatee County and then into Sarasota. The construction started in the year 1895. I
ts first incorporation was in the year 1902 as the United States and West Indies Railroad and Steamship Company. On May 9, 1902, it turned into the Florida West Shore Railway. After this, in the year 1902, it became engulfed into the Seaboard Air Line Railroad Company. It was also in this year that Captain C.H. assisted in the building of the connecting railroad between Bradenton and Turkey Creek. Davis went ahead to establish a town at the half-way point and on October 24, 1902, he also opened a post office. Davis gave a name to the town by taking the primary letters of the names of his three little girls, Wilma, Maude, and Mary; Wi-mau-ma.
A railroad station was developed in the year 1903. The town was incorporated officially in the year 1925 as the fourth municipality of the county, however the city government stopped functioning for short in the 1930s, this reality was rediscovered in 1993. However, it was settled that the incorporation was no more valid after around 60 years without a government in the city. The railroad terminal in Wimauma until 1968 served as a stop for passengers. The tracks of the railroad were evacuated in 1984 and the station long before then has been destroyed.
Wimauma, as indicated by the Census Bureau of United States, possess an aggregate area of 8.8 sq. miles of which 8.4 sq. miles is land and 0.4 sq. miles is water. Wimauma, today is one of the most promising towns in Florida with basic amenities that make for peaceful, yet rich living. There are beautiful houses with great facilities to make you comfortable.
